Here at Norfolk Broads Direct we support the Norfolk and Suffolk Broads Charitable Trust with the ‘Love the Broads’ campaign. Funds raised help to look after the beautiful landscapes and environment of the Broads, for the benefit of local communities and visitors alike.

If you would like to get involved you can donate:

From 2015 we will be donating £1 from each hire cruiser booking towards the ‘Love the Broads’ supported project at South Walsham. The aim of this key project is to provide mooring facilities and access to the village of South Walsham. To create the new mooring spaces there is a need to utilise a network of dykes at Fairhaven Woodland & Water Garden which have silted up over the last 50 years. A recent survey of the proposed site has suggested that reinstating the dykes and then widening them to use for moorings will be of significant benefit to the wildlife population. In particular, it is intended to leave the dykes on the edges of the network at their original size and manage them as habitats for species including dragonflies and water vole.

The moorings will be available for visitors and the local community and it is hoped that schools and groups will benefit from their use for environmental activities. It is expected that this major project will take 3 years of funding before completion and the project will be exclusively sponsored by Ferry Marina’s and Norfolk Broads Direct’s Love the Broads donations during this time. Love the Broads have donated a sum of £1,500 for initial important survey work.
